Toros Forward, Fraser Cup Champ Newpower Signs Bulls Tender

Dec 13, 2021

MASON CITY, Iowa – Last season, Carter Newpower was a North Iowa Bull. This past weekend, the Mason City Toros’ star forward put the Bulls threads back on again…and he’ll continue to wear the Bulls logo into next season.

The Mason City Toros, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League, and North Iowa Bulls, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are excited to announce that Newpower has signed a tender agreement with the Bulls, keeping him with the organization for the 2022-23 season.

Newpower is in his second season in the River City and was a key part of the Bulls’ 2021 Fraser Cup championship team. He scored 13 goals and added 18 assists in 35 games for North Iowa last season in the Bulls’ final NA3HL campaign before moving to the NAHL. He has already surpassed last season’s NA3HL production with 22 goals and 27 assists in the first half of this season for the Toros.

“It means a lot to come back,” Newpower said. “I’m thankful for (General Manager) Todd (Sanden) and the coaching staff giving me the opportunity.”

The Cottage Grove, Minn. native was the top scorer on his team in that 2021 Fraser Cup tournament, posting seven points over the four-game weekend and tallying at least one in every game. His empty-net goal in the Fraser Cup title game sealed the Bulls’ first championship in five years.

Newpower made his North American Hockey League debut Friday night against the Springfield Jr. Blues, and played in both of North Iowa’s games against Springfield this past weekend.

The Mason City Toros and North Iowa Bulls congratulate Carter Newpower on his tender signing and wish him further success as his 2021-22 season continues.
