Suzuki Selected to Japanese Men’s World Championship Team

Apr 24, 2025

North Iowa Bulls forward Fuji Suzuki has been selected to represent the Japanese Men’s National Hockey Team at the 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Championships. Japan is competing at the Division I Group A level of competition.

Suzuki has already enjoyed a decorated junior career in international competition. He has played in two different U18 IIHF World Junior Events in 2022 and 2023. At the 2023 Division I Group A Tournament in Angers, France, Suzuki scored 3 goals and 1 assist for 4 points in five games to help Japan claim the Bronze Medal. That same season, he made his debut at the U20 level with a 4 goal performance in 5 games to win the gold medal at the Division I Group B level in Byotom, Poland. The next season, Suzuki scored 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points in 5 games at the Division I Group A U20 World Junior Tournament in Hungary, Budapest.

This season, Suzuki made his fifth appearance between the IIHF U18 & U20 World Junior levels of competition and had his best showing yet. In five games at the 2025 Division I Group B IIHF World Junior Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, Suzuki helped lead Japan to a silver medal with 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points. The Tokyo native recorded the second highest point and goal total at the tournament to win the third medal of his junior international hockey career.

Fuji has just completed the first season of his NAHL career with the North Iowa Bulls. He suited up in 50 games, scoring 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points. Suzuki was one of 7 Bulls to record double digit goals this season, with the biggest highlight coming on January 3rd, when he scored the game’s winning goal with less than a second of game time remaining to defeat the Minot Minotauros.

Suzuki is one of two players from the 2024-25 Bulls’ roster to take the ice at the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championships. Sangyeob Kim is taking the ice for the South Korean Men’s National Team at the Division I Group B World Championships. Fuji is joined on the Japanese roster by NA3HL Bulls alumnus Kohei Sato, who helped the 2016 Bulls win the Fraser Cup during his tenure in Mason City.

The World Championships begin at Sepsi Arena in Sfantu Gheorge, Romania, on April 27th. The Bulls want to wish good luck to Suzuki at the 2025 World Championships!
