North Iowa uses fast start to beat Chicago, 8-1

North Iowa opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to an 8-1 win over Chicago.

David Min had four goals to lead North Iowa to victory. Min\’s first goal came 5:42 into the first period. He then added goals at 52 seconds into the second, at 4:49 into the second, and at 9:05 into the third.

North Iowa forced Chicago goalie Jimmy Smith to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots.

North Iowa also got points from Brett Gravelle, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Tommy Stang also scored for North Iowa. More assists for North Iowa came via Marshall Barnes, who had three, Eric Piatt, Mitch Parsons, and Mike Lyons, who contributed one each, and Jack Stang and Riley Meyer, who each chipped in two.

David Johnson recorded 14 saves for North Iowa. North Iowa incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Chicago\’s Smith stopped 50 shots out of the 58 that he faced. Chicago incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors and had no power play opportunities.
