North Iowa Rolls Over Breezy Point

The Breezy Point North Stars had trouble finding ways to stop the North Iowa Bulls, which beat North Stars, 7-0.

 

Eric Behrend had two goals to lead North Iowa to victory. Behrend's tallies came at 2:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa and 16:12 into the third to make the score 6-0 North Iowa.

The Bulls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Breezy Point power plays. North Iowa's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Bulls gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. Breezy Point was unable to stop North Iowa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulls eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

North Iowa additionally got points from Chancie Hanson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jake Johnson also scored for North Iowa. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were Matt Kroska, who had three, Ben Ihrie, Tyler Burg, Kyle Krueger, Andrew Halama, and James Hughes, who each chipped in one, and Patrick Sivets and Timothy Santopoalo, who contributed two a piece.

Matthew Bartels recorded 21 saves for North Iowa. The Bulls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The North Stars' Erikur Arnason stopped 39 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Breezy Point incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
