North Iowa Bulls Make Impact at NAHL Main Camps

Aug 20, 2012

North Iowa Bulls forward Bobby Chapman and defenseman Connor Langfield have landed starting spots on NAHL rosters.  Chapman battled through the Soo Eagles main camp to earn a spot on their 30 man roster.  " I was in attendance at this camp and Bobby played well during the 3 day camp, notching the only goal in the main All-Star game for his team" Commented Head Coach, Todd Sanden.  Earlier in the weekend Chapman added a scrap to his camp resume which was in a game where he also scored a goal.  " Bobby is the type of player that you can count on to bring what is necessary for his team to succeed and I think the Soo noticed that."

Connor Langfield earned the opportunity to begin the season with the Minot Minotauros with two solid camps according to Minot head coach Marty Murray.  Murray said,  "Connor was good in both our camps and we look for him to continue with that level of play."  Connor had a great main camp for the North Iowa Bulls two weekends ago at the Andover Community Center, he led all defensemen in scoring for the weekend.  "Connor has worked very hard this off-season and his efforts are being rewarded.  The difference was very noticable at the North Iowa main camp."- Coach Sanden. As the rest of the returning and incoming North Iowa Bulls prepare to report to Mason City on August 29th, we wish Bobby and Connor continued success and good luck.

Returning for the North Iowa Bulls are goaltender Matt Bartels who played most of the minutes for the Bulls last season and was instrumental down the playoff stretch that included a spot in the 3HL West Division Finals.  Defensemen ready to patrol the blue line for the Bulls are Andrew Halama and Noah Anderson both of which were steady last season.  Halama will probably be heading to home town college UW-Stout after another year with the Bulls.  Noah Anderson, being a 94 birth year will hone his skills to run a power play in an NAHL town in the coming year.  Up front the Bulls have forwards Eric Behrend, Skylar Harding, Matt Kroska, Jared Ramstead, and Patrick Sivets returning.  The "Fab Five Forwards" notched 166 points combined for the Bulls during the regular season last year.  "As veteran players I look for their production to skyrocket.  These are guys I would take into any battle."  Kroska led the group with 51 points and an All 3HL Second Team Award at the forward position.  Bulls forward Patrick Sivets led the 3HL in short handed goals while Jared Ramstead from Eckville, Alberta Canada was the Bulls leading scorer the first half of the season and a 3HL Combat Player of the Month.  Eric Behrend was a two time 3HL Player of the Week and spent time with the NAHL Janesville Jets last year.  Skylar Harding the last of the fab five will forever be an answer to a Bulls trivia question.  Skylar scored the North Iowa Bulls first ever game winning goal.  "Skylar is a very responsible two way player that we will rely on in a more offensive role this season." The North Iowa Bulls kickoff their exhibition schedule on August 31st and September 1st against the Topeka Roadrunners, just two days after reporting to Mason City.  Local fans can catch the Bulls in action September 7th and 8th at Riverside Arena in Austin, Minnesota against the Austin Bruins.  The Bulls will wrap up their exhibition season hosting their NAHL affiliate the Amarillo Bulls September 10th in Albert Lea.  North Iowa opens the 3HL regular season on the road September 14th in Granite City.  Catch the Bulls first home game on October 6th against the Alexandria Blizzard.
