North Iowa boosted by Ahlgren’s play in net, beats Breezy Point 4-1

Tommi Ahlgren stood on his head and made 38 saves to lead the North Iowa Bulls to a 4-1 victory over the Breezy Point North Stars.

North Iowa was sparked by Brett Gravelle, who finished with one goal. Gravelle scored 2:57 into the second period to make the score 2-0 North Iowa. Sam Naegele assisted on the tally.

The Bulls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Breezy Point to score on any of its five power plays. North Iowa forced the North Stars goalie Joe Licata to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Johnny Panvica also scored for North Iowa. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were John Chorzempa, Tom Lindgren, Joe Kleven, Connor Bump, Ben Henderson, and Joe Burgmeier, who contributed one each.

Breezy Point\’s offense rang up 39 shots on the Bulls\’ net.

The North Stars were led by Joe Costello, who scored the team\’s only goal. Costello scored 7:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North Iowa. Nick Blanchette provided the assist.

North Iowa incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Licata recorded 33 saves for Breezy Point. The North Stars incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
