North Iowa beats Minnesota 4-0 as Johnson gains shutout

David Johnson was superb between the pipes for the North Iowa Bulls, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Flying Aces.

North Iowa was led by Austin Jackson, who racked up one goal. Jackson scored on the power play 2:00 into the second period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa. The Bulls had gotten the advantage when Minnesota\’s Ryan Conybear was sent off for checking from behind. Dylan Zins picked up the assist.

North Iowa\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Minnesota power plays. The Bulls\’ offense rang up 54 shots on the Flying Aces\’ net.

North Iowa also got points from Hunter Smith, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Zins, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jack Sterne also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Joe Kleven, Sam Naegele, Joe Burgmeier, Colton Budreau, and Zach Fedie, who each chipped in one.

Johnson recorded 28 saves for North Iowa. The Bulls incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kevin OShea made 50 saves for Minnesota on 54 shots. The Flying Aces incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
