No Place Like Home, UW-Eau Claire for Collins

Jun 22, 2017

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – As a native of Eau Claire, North Iowa Bulls forward Braxton Collins is already pretty familiar with the Blugolds hockey program. That means his college learning curve will be a short one – Collins has announced his commitment to the Wisconsin-Eau Claire hockey program after playing an important late-season role for the Bulls this past year.

Collins had a long career in the North American Hockey League prior to joining the North Iowa roster at the beginning of February. The Wisconsin native played 140 games in the NAHL for the Minnesota Magicians and Coulee Region Chill, and added nearly a point a game for the Bulls after his arrival. His impact was immediate, tallying a pair of assists in his North Iowa debut against the Granite City Lumberjacks, and he added his first goal the following night.

His playoff resume was significant, posting seven points in just four playoff games on the way to North Iowa’s fifth straight appearance in the Silver Cup tournament.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire made a run to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship game last year behind an impressive roster, including three former USHL players and former North Iowa goaltender David Johnson.

The North Iowa Bulls wish all the best to Braxton Collins as he begins his college career with the Blugolds.
