Apr 4, 2022

WINONA, Minn. – Defenseman Cal Nauss left North Iowa as one of the most decorated defensemen in team history, and he’s already starting off his collegiate career on the same note.

Nauss has been named to U.S. College Hockey Online’s NCAA Division III All-Rookie team, noting him among the division’s top eight freshmen this past season. The Wayzata, Minnesota native and Business Intelligence & Analytics major earned his first college goal in a February 11 loss to eventual Division III semifinalist Augsburg University, and had seven assists this season as well. His eight points led the Cardinals’ defensive corps, and landed him on the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference all-rookie team and the Honorable Mention all-MIAC list.

The 2020-21 NA3HL Defenseman of the Year, Nauss was the very definition of a two-way defenseman with North Iowa, racking up 38 points in helping to lead the Bulls to their fourth Fraser Cup national championship. His 28 assists made him the first Bull to ever lead the team in that category, and his 66 career points ranks fourth among North Iowa blueliners.
