MASON CITY, Iowa – The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced that the current 2019-20 season, including the remainder of the 2020 NA3HL Fraser Cup playoffs and championship tournament, have been canceled due to the international medical emergency caused by the COVID-19 Virus pandemic.
The league’s decision today means that no Fraser Cup playoff games for the North Iowa Bulls will be played at the Mason City Multipurpose Arena. The North Iowa Bulls business office will be open and ready to receive phone calls regarding options for ticket exchanges at the start of business hours on Monday, March 16th.
“We are sad to see this season come to an end, but the health of the entire Bulls community is our priority,” said North Iowa Bulls director of business operations Kathee Corsello. “We were looking forward to providing another postseason run to the fans who have supported us so enthusiastically during our first season downtown. We are looking forward to the upcoming 2020-21 season when we will celebrate the team’s 10th Anniversary.”
“I want to personally thank our loyal fans for what will go down as one of the team’s most memorable seasons ever,” said Bulls Majority Owner Alberto Fernandez. “The move to the new arena downtown was a dream come true and only made possible by the fans, city leaders, legions of community supporters and Bulls players and staff who instantly made our new arena a new home. We are eternally grateful for the community’s amazing support, as well as everyone’s understanding about the unfortunate circumstances that have led to the cancellation of our season. My message to our fans is this: The Bulls will be back!”
This means that the Bulls’ regular season record of 38-7-2-0 record will be their final record. The team ends its 2019-20 campaign with its seventh NA3HL West Division championship in nine years. The club also now says goodbye to 10 1999-born players who have exhausted their junior eligibility. This marks the final season that a player born in the 20th century will put on a North Iowa Bulls uniform.
