Marenis Commits to Aurora!

The North Iowa Bulls are proud to announce that forward Rihards Marenis has chosen Aurora University to continue playing at the NCAA level. Marenis, from Riga Latvia, was an extremely potent offensive producer for North Iowa. In 56 regular season games with North Iowa Rihards tallied 61 goals and 67 assists and was +116. In 10 games for the NAHL Amarillo Bulls Marenis scored one goal and was +1. Playoff hockey was where Rihards really made his mark, scoring 15 goals and 14 assists in 14 NA3HL playoff contests. At the USA Hockey Nationals Marenis lead the 2014 Tier III Junior tournament in scoring with 7 goals and 4 assists. In 2013, en route to capturing the USA Hockey national championship he contributed 4 goals and 2 assists including a goal in the title game. During the 2014 NA3HL Top Prospects event Marenis notched 5 goals and 3 assists in the 3 game event. "To say that Rihards is a special player is an understatement. Rihards was not just a leader in the points department he also took it upon himself to spend time mentoring younger Bulls players during this season which speaks to his team devotion and desire to help those around him become successful. Rihards really takes the game seriously and I expect that he will be a very successful college hockey player and probably beyond that."
