Mason City, IA- Mason City Toros forward Kellen Kantaris has been selected as the NA3HL’s West Division Star of the Week for the week of October 21-27. Across the Toros’ two game series split against the Willmar WarHawks and Minnesota Moose, the Mason City native recorded three goals and three assists for six points. Against Willmar, Kantaris notched two goals and two assists to power the Toros to an 8-1 victory on the road. The next night against the Minnesota Moose, Kantaris added another goal and another assist. These were the first two multi-point games of his junior hockey career.
“Kellen has really stepped up as of late. He is working hard in practice to improve everyday and it is paying off in games,” stated Toros Head Coach Mark Hicks.

Across the first 13 games of his season, Kantaris has recorded 7 goals and 5 assists for 12 points. He joined the Toros after playing 32 games for the Mason City Mohawks last season and recording 21 goals and 32 assists for a team leading 53 points. The Mason City local is the Toros’ leading goal scorer and the second leading overall scorer on the team.
Kellen is the Toros’ second player to be selected as a Star of the Week. Teis Larsen earned the West Division’s first Star of the Week selection of the season.
Kantaris leads the Toros onto the ice for Friday night when the Mason City Toros matchup against the Minnesota Moose at the Mason City Arena.
