Joe Sweeney Commits to University of New England

Mason City, IA- The North Iowa Bulls of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Joe Sweeney has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of New England in the CCC.

Sweeney, 20, just wrapped up his third and final season in the NAHL. The California native began his NAHL career in 2021-2022, playing a single game with the Chippewa Steel before heading to North Iowa to suit up for the Bulls. 

Over the course of 117 games with North Iowa, the 6’2” defender tallied a total of 19 points (3 goals, 16 assists). Additionally, Sweeney was selected to participate in the 2024 Top Prospects Tournament for the Central Division.

The University of New England Nor’easters compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference and has made the NCAA DIII Frozen Four two of the last three seasons.
