Huge game by Santopoalo boosts xNorth Iowa over Minnesota, 11-3

Tim Santopoalo had one goal and three assists to lead the xNorth Iowa Bulls to an 11-3 victory over the Minnesota Flying Aces.

Santopoalo scored 13:52 into the first period to make the score 5-0 xNorth Iowa. Matt Kroska assisted on the tally. Santopoalo dished an assist on Wesley Iverson\’s goal that made the score 1-0 xNorth Iowa at 6:48 into the first period. He then added assists on Richie Marenis\’s goal at 10:41 into the first and on Marenis\’ goal at 41 seconds into the second.

xNorth Iowa found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Bulls average 7.2 goals per game. xNorth Iowa capitalized on Minnesota\’s penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. The Bulls were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.

xNorth Iowa also got points from Zach Jones, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Dominik Florian, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for xNorth Iowa included Austin Jackson and Brandon Anderson, who scored two goals each. More assists for xNorth Iowa came via Joe Kleven, Ron Lindgren, Kyle Krueger, Matt Fosdick, and Cameron Brown, who contributed one a piece and Tyler Richison, Chris Howard, and Ian Penvose, who each chipped in two.

The Flying Aces were helped by Eric Rogorzenski, who tallied one goal and one assist. Rogorzenski scored on the power play 17:40 into the second period to make the score 10-2 xNorth Iowa. Minnesota had gained a power play chance when Marenis was whistled for checking from behind. Jake Mullendore picked up the assist. Minnesota additionally got points from Eric Cruickshank, who also registered one goal and one assist. AJ Gullickson also scored for Minnesota.
