Hats Off Again! Isogai Chosen As Star of the Week

Oct 17, 2019

MASON CITY, Iowa – Sota Isogai has been close to a breakout game for a while….really, really close.

That breakout game finally came against the Breezy Point North Stars on Friday evening, with a hat trick in the opening period of an 8-2 victory at the North Iowa Ice Arena.

Thanks to that night and a huge Saturday, Isogai was named the West Division’s Bauer Hockey Star of the Week for this week by the NA3HL. After racking up his three goals in the Friday night game, the Nagano, Japan native added another goal and three assists the following night in a 9-0 win. Isogai’s first assist was a pass to the right point to set up Harrison Stewart‘s snipe on the second shift of the evening. Stewart’s goal just 44 seconds into the contest proved to be the game-winner.

“Sota has started to get comfortable with his surroundings in North America, particularly North Iowa,” said head coach Todd Sanden. “He is a talented player that has an ability to play in different speeds.  Sota’s strength with the puck is noticeable and an asset in the West division where games are fast and physical.”

It’s the second week in a row, and the third overall, that the Bulls have landed the West Division’s Star of the Week award. Cam Fagerlee was chosen the West’s Star of the Week last week after his four goals and four assists against the Willmar WarHawks headlined a 24-point weekend for Sanden’s top line. Mason Enright earned the West Division’s weekly star in September, also for a huge weekend against Breezy Point.

The Bulls are back in action this weekend against the St. Louis Jr. Blues, and return to the “Barn” on Saturday, October 26 for “Hat Tricks and Treats” Night against the New Ulm Steel.
