Gravelle, Orn dominate Twin City, lead North Iowa to 5-2 win

Behind two goals from Brett Gravelle and one goal and two assists from Adam Orn, North Iowa downed Twin City 5-2.

Gravelle scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North Iowa. A hooking penalty on Bennett Witta had put North Iowa on the power play. Orn provided the assist. Gravelle\’s next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 North Iowa with 11:19 left in the third period. North Iowa had gained a power play chance when Nicholas Campbell was whistled for roughing. Orn picked up the assist. Orn scored 14:30 into the second period to make the score 3-1 North Iowa. Sean Mallonee assisted on the tally.

North Iowa cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on four chances.

North Iowa additionally got points from Orn, who also had one goal and two assists, Mallonee, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Tommy Stang, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Austin Jackson, Quinn Fuchs, Connor Bump, David Min, and Zack St. John, who each chipped in one.

Twin City was held below its usual level of production. Twin City averages 4.4 goals per game.

Twin City was led by Joe Costello, who racked up two goals and one assist. Costello scored the first of his two goals at 18:37 into the second period to make the score 3-2 North Iowa. Costello\’s next tally made the score 3-3 with 19:13 left in the third period. Alex Egle picked up the assist. Twin City also got a goal from Tyler Nystrom as well. More assists for Twin City came via Fritz Belisle, who had one.

North Iowa\’s St. John stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. North Iowa incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jon Albers rejected 21 shots on goal for Twin City. Twin City incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
