SO LONG, FAREWELL, AUF WIEDERSEHN GOOD-BYE: Barring a meeting in the Fraser Cup playoffs next month, this game marks a farewell in a five-year rivalry between North Iowa and Willmar following the news on Friday of the Bulls’ elevation to the North American Hockey League for the 2021-22 season. The WarHawks began play in 2016, but the teams did not become West Division foes until the 2018-19 season.
ON THE RAZOR’S EDGE: The Bulls and WarHawks have had their battles this season, to say the very least – six of the nine meetings between the teams this season have been one- or two-goal games, including the last five straight. Prior to this season, only four North Iowa-Willmar matchups had been decided by two goals or fewer, with three of them coming in the WarHawks’ inaugural 2016-17 season.
