Elk River Standout Johnson Signs Latest Bulls Tender

Dec 14, 2021

MASON CITY, Iowa – The North Iowa Bulls are looking north for the latest addition to their organization.

The Bulls are excited to announce that Elk River High School senior Blake Johnson has signed a tender with the team, locking up the standout forward at least through the start of the 2022-23 season. Johnson has long been a staple on the score sheet for the Elk River/Zimmerman Elks, but has kicked his game into a new gear this season, racking up 10 goals and seven assists in just his first seven games of the year, including five points in a recent 10-3 win over Armstrong/Cooper.

His efforts in his final high school season are already paying off, with Elk River/Zimmerman off to a 5-1 start. The Elks are in the hunt for their first winning season in four years, and came within a game of the state tournament in 2020. Johnson’s 26 points that season earned him an honorable-mention nod on the Northwest Suburban all-conference list, and his 30 points last year were enough to earn another all-conference selection.

Johnson’s tender signing also ensures that any NAHL appearances during the remainder of this season will come with the Bulls – as part of the tender agreement, he may not be recruited or drafted by another NAHL team.

The North Iowa Bulls congratulate Blake Johnson on his tender signing and wish him all success as his 2021-22 season continues.
