Bulls Unveil American Cancer Society Jerseys

Oct 18, 2019

MASON CITY, Iowa – The North Iowa Bulls will be going back to their roots for their final jersey auction in the “Barn” next month, with a set of specialty jerseys to honor the American Cancer Society.

The jerseys were unveiled to subscribers of the team’s “Bulls Biweekly” newsletter on Monday, and to viewers of the team’s weekly preview video on YouTube on Thursday before being revealed to the general public on Friday. The jerseys will be worn the weekend of November 22 and 23 against the Granite City Lumberjacks, and will be auctioned off to benefit the American Cancer Society following the Saturday night game.

Three kid-size versions will also be part of the Saturday jersey auction, with proceeds from those jerseys to benefit Stomping Out Childhood Cancer. As in the past, fans will be invited to skate on the North Iowa Ice Arena rink following the game, and meet their favorite Bulls players.

“The team has been to able support so many amazing organizations with our jersey auctions,” said North Iowa Bulls Director of Business Operations Kathee Corsello. “The American Cancer Society is always a fan favorite for our jerseys. I love the generosity of our fans – it is definitely heart-warming. With this last jersey auction at the “Barn,” it is nice to be able to coordinate the charity colors and our original logo to offer our fans a very special jersey.”

The jerseys feature the North Iowa Bulls’ original logo, used from 2011 to 2017, to mark the final jersey auction in the North Iowa Ice Arena before the team’s move to downtown Mason City. The primary colors of red and blue match the American Cancer Society’s colors, with various words of encouragement such as “HOPE,” “FAITH” and “COURAGE” wrapping around the hem of the jersey.

Wrapped around the sleeves are a series of yellow ribbons, to reflect the yellow ribbon that collectively represents childhood cancers. The Bulls’ secondary logo will also appear above the nameplate along with a yellow ribbon.

“The American Cancer Society is proud and honored to partner with the North Iowa Bulls in the Fight Against Cancer,” said Steve Lovik, Senior Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society’s North Region. “With the special jersey auction this year, along with other fundraising activities, the Bulls and their fans will help raise monies that benefit cancer research, finding new and better medicines and procedures to cure this terrible disease. Thank you to the North Iowa Bulls for their tremendous work in Fighting Cancer!”

Just eight home games remain in the “Barn” before the team moves to the new multipurpose arena that is currently under construction in downtown Mason City.
