Bulls Sweep Away Blues

Mason City, IA- The North Iowa Bulls completed a two-game weekend sweep of the Springfield Jr. Blues on Saturday night at the Mason City Arena. 

North Iowa exploded for four goals in a 2:48 long stretch late in the second period, their biggest scoring output of the season. Bulls Captain Blake Ulve opened the scoring on a beautiful glide in from the circle to Springfield goalie Matt Schoephoerster’s doorstep. Ulve, who added on an assist for seven points in his last seven games. Hayden Siegel created a breakaway and cashed in only 26 seconds later for his sixth goal of the season. 

Jack Seaverson, fresh off a two-goal night on Friday to win the night for the Bulls, recorded two more goals for a four-goal weekend. His first came on a power play and his second came on even strength. The Chaska, MN, native has recorded seven points in his last seven games. 

Charles Beland tacked on one more goal on a power play in the third period. Beland also added an assist for a two-point night. The Bulls ultimately went 2-3 on the man advantage while killing off all 5 Springfield power play opportunities. 

Logan Ganz scored early in the third to keep the Blues from being shutout, but ultimately, Dylan Johnson recorded 26 saves on 27 shots in the Bulls net to secure a 5-1 win, earning the first weekend sweep of the season. 

Matt Schoephoerster notched 19 saves on 24 shots faced in the Springfield net. 

North Iowa hits the road next weekend for two games at the Odde Ice Center against the Aberdeen Wings.
