Bulls Ride Hot Streak

Dec 5, 2012

The North Iowa Bulls are as hot as any team in the NA3HL right now.

Over their past 10 games, the Bulls are 9-0-0-1 with the only blemish coming in a shootout loss to West Division leader Granite City.

North Iowa returns home this weekend to take on Minnesota today and Twin City (both games at 7:30 p.m.) on Saturday and coach Todd Sanden likes where his team is.

“If we focus on our game, we shouldn’t need to worry about the teams coming in,” Sanden said.

Over the last month, the Bulls have seen the emergence of goalie Aaron Davis. Davis is 4-0 since joining the Bulls, allowing an average of two goals per game.

Davis gives the Bulls some depth in net to go along with Bartels, a second-year goalie for North Iowa.

“It not only keeps Bartels fresh, but it pushes him a little more,” Sanden said.

Tonight, North Iowa hosts a Minnesota team that it has already beaten four times.

The only close game came on Nov. 9 in Little Falls, Minn., when North Iowa won 2-1. Taylor Brown scored the game-winning goal for the Bulls with less than a minute to play.

“Minnesota is a very hard working team, but they’re not as deep as us,” Sanden said.

Twin City comes to town on Saturday night. North Iowa has won the three previous times this season.

“If we go out and play at our pace, we’ll be okay,” Sanden said
