Bulls Blast Blizzard

Oct 8, 2012

The North Iowa Bulls started this season where they left off last season, big crowds and home wins.

The North Iowa Bulls opened the 2012-13 season at home against the Alexandria Blizzard. The Bulls capitalized first on a Taylor Brown shorthanded goal. A great individual effort by Brown to beat the Blizzard netminder resulted in a 1-0 Bulls lead after one period.

Alexandria tied the game midway through the second period and the score stayed that way through two periods.

Bulls forward Tim Santopoalo put the Bulls ahead early in the third period on a nice feed off a two on one play from James Hughes. Hughes beat the Blizzard defender wide and made a slick pass through the top of the crease for Santopoalo to tap in. That goal proved to be the game winner. Matt Kroska added an empty net goal assisted by Connor Jonasson and Ron Lindgren to cap the 3-1 Bulls victory.

The opening night announced attendance of 873 fans were elated to witness the win. The Bulls Buffalo Wild Wings three star selections were:
3) Matt Bartels- Barty made 22 saves in net getting the win.
2) James Hughes- Jimmy had many scoring chances and assisted on the game winning goal.
1) Tim Santopoalo- Santo tallied his third game winning goal of the young season

The Bulls next home show is Saturday October 20th agains the Minnesota Flying Aces. Pre sale tickets are still available through the Bulls office.
