MASON CITY, Iowa – Throughout the 2020-21 hockey season, the North Iowa Bulls organization has taken steps to keep its personnel and fans healthy while allowing them to enjoy a night out at the Mason City Multipurpose Arena. While the state of Iowa has lifted its enforcement of restrictions on gatherings, including capacity limits and mask requirements, the Bulls will continue enforcing certain restrictions at their home games under the advice of the City of Mason City and Cerro Gordo County Public Health.
Capacity at Bulls home games will continue to be restricted to roughly 1,100 fans, or 55 percent of the arena’s typical seating capacity. Distancing measures were tightened in six sections ahead of the team’s first home games of 2021, while these measures were loosened slightly in other sections. These measures will remain in place for upcoming home games.
The City of Mason City’s face-covering requirements within city-owned and city-leased buildings also remain in effect, meaning face coverings continue to be required at Bulls home games. Fans will no longer be required to be in a seat to eat or drink, and may remove their face coverings while eating and drinking.
“It is nice to be able to lighten our restrictions a little. However, we have to keep the wellbeing of our fans, staff and team as a priority.” said North Iowa Bulls Chief Operating Officer Kathee Corsello. “There are many teams in our division and league that have had to postpone and reschedule games due to covid outbreaks within their organization. We have not had those issues, due to the restrictions we have implemented. We need to keep some of those restrictions in place to ensure a healthy team and full season.”
Temperatures will also continue to be checked upon entry to the facility, as an added health-related measure.
