North Iowa Bulls alumnus forward Brett Morich signed a contract to play professional hockey for the Port Huron Prowlers of the Federal Prospects Hockey League.
Brett joined the Bulls part of the way through the 2021-22 season and laced up for 41 games in the Bulls’ first NAHL season. He potted 7 goals and added 3 assists for 10 points. The Phoenix, AZ, native had previously played 10 games for the Springfield Jr. Blues and 31 games across two different seasons for the Jamestown Rebels, compiling 82 career games in the North American Hockey League.

After his junior hockey career, Morich played three seasons of NCAA DIII Hockey between Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he was selected as an Assistant Captain for the 2023-24 season, and the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. This past season, Morich finished 3rd on the team in blocked shots, with 21 blocks in 22 games played.
The Port Huron Prowlers are a team based in Port Huron, Michigan, that plays in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) and have won the FPHL’s Commissioner’s Cup Championship once.
Morich is the third Bull in the last year to earn a professional hockey contract. Max Ferkodic & Sangyeob Kim earned pro hockey contracts for European based professional teams. Morich is the newest Mason City hockey alumnus to earn a spot in the professional hockey ranks.
