After Two Weeks, Bump Makes It a Streak

Sep 27, 2017

MASON CITY, Iowa – The first two weeks of the North Iowa Bulls season can be summarized with a few brief numbers: four wins, three hat tricks, and now two Bauer Hockey NA3HL Central Division Stars of the Week.

Tyler Bump was selected as the Bulls’ latest Star of the Week after an outstanding weekend against the La Crosse Freeze this past Friday and Saturday. The Prior Lake, Minnesota native had nine points in this past weekend’s series, starting with a goal and an assist in Friday’s 6-2 triumph in La Crosse.

That was just a curtain-raiser for his Saturday night performance, when he commanded the stage with a hat trick and assisted on two other goals. Bump tallied 24 points last season in just 16 games with the Bulls but did not register his first hat trick until the final game of the regular season, also against the Freeze. In just four games, Bump is up to five goals and six helpers on the 2017-18 campaign.

Dominic Skrelja also received some consideration for the Star of the Week honor, after posting a hat trick Friday night in his North Iowa debut.

After a 4-0 start, the Bulls face their stiffest test yet this Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Fraser, Michigan to face the two-time defending NA3HL runner-up Metro Jets. Live coverage of both games is available on HockeyTV.
