Top Prospects Day 2 Update

May 11, 2013

On day two of the 2013 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, each team played two games. Team Midwest was up first against Team Ohio, and after a competitive and fairly even first period in which Team Midwest led only 1-0, they blew the game open in the second with four goals, including one from Bulls Captain Matt Kroska to extend the lead to 5-0. The third period would be more like the first, with each team potting a goal, however, with no comeback at hand Team Midwest took their second straight lopsided game 6-1.

In their second game of the day, Coach Sanden and the boys took on Team Michigan and found themselves down 2-0 just 12 minutes into the game. Sensing the urgency at the time and needing a response, it was a pair of Bulls players who provided the answer with Tim Santopoalo netting a marker with an assist from Taylor Brown just over a minute after Team Michigan took the 2-goal lead and Team Midwest would head to intermission down only 2-1 and with a little momentum on their side. They would carry that to the second and scored the first two goals of the frame taking a 3-2 lead. Team Michigan would respond setting up a third period with the game on the line. Team Midwest would outscore Team Michigan 3-1 in the frame and skate off with a 6-4 victory, claiming the undefeated 3-0 record in the round-robin portion of the tournament.

Here are the stats for the 5 Bulls players in the three round-robin games.

Matt Kroska – 1G, 2A, 2PIMS
Taylor Brown – 1G, 2A
