Oct 6, 2016

MASON CITY, Iowa – Kohei Sato (Nishitokio, Japan/North Iowa Bulls) is the second North Iowa Bull this year to be named the Bauer NA3HL Central Division Star of the Week after a huge three-day weekend against the Chicago Bulldogs last weekend. The third-year Bulls forward picked up the honor after tallying six goals and four assists in the three-game sweep, including a hat trick in last Friday’s 14-1 victory. With eight goals and four helpers in his five appearances this season, he stands as the Bulls’ leading scorer, and his points-per-game average is also in the league’s top-10.

“Kohei was a catalyst for us this weekend,” said head coach Todd Sanden. “His speed constantly puts pressure on opposing teams’ defenses.  He is working on some of the details of the game and they are starting to show, as he is becoming a more complete player.”

Mike Lyons (Wheaton, Ill./North Iowa Bulls) was named the division’s Second Star with four assists over the weekend, including three in last Saturday’s 7-1 triumph. The Bulls host the Wisconsin Whalers this weekend in a quest to remain unbeaten in the Central Division. Both Friday and Saturday’s games start at 7:30 p.m. at the North Iowa Ice Arena, with live coverage on HockeyTV and live audio-streaming on Mixlr.
