Santopoalo nets hat trick, leads North Iowa to 6-2 win over Minnesota

Timothy Santopoalo netted a hat trick to lead the xNorth Iowa Bulls over the Minnesota Flying Aces, 6-2.

Santopoalo's first goal came 10:57 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:22 into the second and at 1:58 into the third.

 

xNorth Iowa stifled Minnesota's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulls forced the Flying Aces goalie Jaxson Gosnell to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

xNorth Iowa also got points from Richie Marenis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. xNorth Iowa also had goals scored by Zach Jones, Cameron Brown, and Trey Gardner, who each put in one. In addition, xNorth Iowa received assists from Matt Kroska, who had three, Kurt Halbach, Dominik Florian, and Austin Jackson, who each chipped in one, and Chancie Hanson and Matthew Fosdick, who contributed two a piece.

Minnesota was helped by Bradee Thompson, who racked up one goal. Thompson scored 18:04 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Minnesota. Eric Rogorzenski picked up the assist. Blake Anderson also scored for Minnesota. More assists for Minnesota came via Tyler Leverty, Anthony Martinez, and AJ Gullickson, who each chipped in one.

Jordan Moran made 17 saves for xNorth Iowa on 19 shots. The Bulls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gosnell recorded 33 saves for the Flying Aces. Minnesota incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
