North Iowa survives Breezy Point comeback, wins 4-3

The North Iowa Bulls survived a determined comeback attempt by the Breezy Point North Stars on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Connor Bump put North Iowa up 4-1 in the third period, but Breezy Point pulled to within one on Sean Viti\’s tally 10:22 into the third period.

The Bulls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. North Iowa forced the North Stars goalie Joe Licata to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

The Bulls were helped by Austin Jackson, who registered one goal. Jackson scored 8:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North Iowa. Dylan Zins picked up the assist. North Iowa also got points from Brett Gravelle, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Carmen Dalesandro also scored for North Iowa. More assists for North Iowa came via Johnny Panvica, who had two and Joe Kleven, Travis Johnston, and Trey Gardner, who contributed one each.

Breezy Point was helped by Tony Roisum, who had one goal. Roisum scored 8:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Breezy Point. Benny Smieja assisted on the tally. Breezy Point also got a goal from Brooke Evans as well. Other players who recorded assists for Breezy Point were Crosby Steen, Nick Blanchette, Ryan Herbert, and Joe Costello, who each chipped in one.

North Iowa\’s Jordan Moran stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Bulls incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Licata recorded 45 saves for the North Stars. Breezy Point incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
