North Iowa Steady Against Minnesota but Falter in Granite City

After posting a 5-0 shutout versus the Flying Aces your North Iowa Bulls stumbled against the Lumberjacks on the road. North Iowa opened the scoring on Sunday against Granite City. Eric Behrend lit the lamp on the power play assisted by James Hughes and Jake Johnson to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead. Johnson chipped the puck down low to Hughes who beat a Granite City defender and laid a pass out front to Behrend who buried it past Lumberjacks goaltender Murray. Granite City on the strength of 4 second period goals pounded the Bulls 8-3. "We need a better effort out of our entire team against Granite City, if we are going to be a championship caliber team. Granite City is the measuring stick in the 3HL , they are defending champions."

On Friday in Little Falls the Bulls blanked the Aces 5-0. Matt Kroska scored the first goal of the game and eventual game winner for North Iowa on the power play. Bulls forwards Tim Santopoalo and Jared Ramstead each added power play goals while Preston Blanek added a shorthanded goal giving the Bulls 4 special teams goals on the night. Matt Bartels recorded his first shutout of the season stopping 43 Aces sorties.

The Bulls have a big weekend approaching hosting the 3HL leading 'Jacks for a pair at the North Iowa Events Center Ice Arena this Friday and Saturday night November 2-3.
