North Iowa rips Rochester, 7-0

North Iowa had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-0 win over Rochester.

North Iowa was led by Marshall Barnes, who racked up one goal and one assist. Barnes scored 21 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa. Austin Jackson assisted on the tally.

North Iowa forced Rochester\’s goalies to work without much rest, launching 50 shots and forcing 43 saves. Zach Mains made 42 stops and Kyle Plantz made one.

North Iowa additionally got points from Jackson, who also had one goal and one assist and Carmen Dalesandro, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North Iowa included Tommy Hall, who had two and Ryan Durant and Tommy Stang, who scored one goal each. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Connor Bump, who had two and Tom Lindgren, Adam Orn, Kohei Sato, Joe Guimont, Jack Stang, Brett Gravelle, and Riley Meyer, who each chipped in one.

Rochester was held below its usual level of production. Rochester puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

Tommi Ahlgren made 15 saves for North Iowa on 15 shots. North Iowa incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Rochester incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
