North Iowa downs Wisconsin, 4-1

Austin Jackson registered two points to lead North Iowa to a 4-1 victory over Wisconsin.

North Iowa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wisconsin to score on any of its three power plays. North Iowa forced Wisconsin goalie Max McConnell to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

Brett Gravelle also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Tommy Hall, Mitch Parsons, Mike Lyons, Jack Stang, and Marshall Barnes, who each chipped in one.

Wisconsin racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game Wisconsin had been spending in the box. Wisconsin\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four North Iowa power plays.

Wisconsin was led by Thomas Hanson, who scored the team\’s only goal. Hanson scored 6:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ben Ratner provided the assist.

David Johnson rejected 17 shots on goal for North Iowa. North Iowa ended with 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For North Iowa, Connor Bump was ejected from the game. McConnell recorded 45 saves for Wisconsin. Wisconsin ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake McNamara was ejected from the game.
