Granite City outlasts North Iowa, 3-2

The Granite City Lumberjacks and the North Iowa Bulls were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Granite City made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and David Kenney secured the win for the Lumberjacks with a goal in the third period.

Granite City was led by Kenney, who finished with one goal. Kenney scored 7:08 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Granite City. Drew Otto picked up the assist.

The Lumberjacks\’ offense operated below they season average. Granite City averages 5.3 goals per game.

Granite City also got points from Taylor Brown, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Otto, who also had one goal and one assist.

North Iowa could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Bulls put an average of 6.8 pucks into the net per game.

North Iowa was helped by Dominik Florian, who registered one goal. Florian scored 6:31 into the second period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa. Sam Naegele provided the assist. North Iowa also got a goal from Rihards Marenis as well. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Ron Lindgren and Matt Kroska, who contributed one a piece.

Austin Wilson recorded 25 saves for the Lumberjacks. Granite City incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bulls\’ Chris Amsden stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. North Iowa incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
