Clemons Named Central Division Star of the Week

Oct 13, 2016

MASON CITY, Iowa – Thanks in large part to a 7-2 start, North Iowa has been a regular contributor to the NA3HL’s list of Bauer Central Division Stars of the Week – this week the Bulls have their third player on the list in a five-week span. Connor Clemons (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake H.S.) was named the division’s Star of the Week after gathering a goal and seven assists through the weekend, while also posting a +6 rating. The 6’1″, 175-pound forward scored his goal on special teams last Friday night, tallying halfway through a second-period power play.

“Connor has shown an ability to mesh with our top players,” said head coach Todd Sanden, “and has provided consistent offense while he has been in the line up.”

Steven Mordini (Baraboo, Wis./Team Wisconsin) was the Bulls’ first Central Division Star of the Week following the Bulls’ opening-week split against the Peoria Mustangs, and last week Kohei Sato (Nishitokio, Japan/North Iowa Bulls) wrapped up his place as a Star of the Week in a three-game home sweep of the Chicago Bulldogs.

North Iowa will look to extend its unbeaten run against Central Division opponents when they take on the La Crosse Freeze in a home-and-home set this weekend. Friday’s game starts at 7 p.m. at the Green Island Ice Arena in La Crosse, Wis., with the return game Saturday night starting at 7:30 p.m. at the North Iowa Ice Arena. Both games will stream live on HockeyTV, with Saturday’s game also audio-streaming live on Mixlr.
