Burgmeier lifts North Iowa over Granite City, 5-2

Joe Burgmeier was all over the ice for the North Iowa Bulls, as he tallied two goals in North Iowa\’s 5-2 win over the Granite City Lumberjacks.

Burgmeier\’s tallies came at 3:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa and on the power play 16:47 into the second to make the score 3-1 North Iowa.

North Iowa additionally got points from Brett Gravelle, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North Iowa included Zachary Johnston and Dylan Zins, who scored one goal each. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Ryan Durant, who had one, Joe Kleven, who had three, and Evan Mills and Connor Bump, who each chipped in two.

Granite City could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Lumberjacks put an average of 4.7 pucks into the net per game. Granite City\’s defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Lumberjacks are averaging 1.5 goal against for the season.

Granite City was led by Georgy Ostapchuk, who finished with one goal. Ostapchuk scored 10:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mitchell Huffman provided the assist. Granite City also got a goal from Blake Phenow as well. More assists for Granite City came via Adam Marty, Jared Sprink, and David Kenney, who contributed one each.

The Bulls\’ Jordan Moran stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. North Iowa incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Sam Goetsch rejected 24 shots on goal for the Lumberjacks. Granite City incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
