The North Iowa Bulls traveled this past weekend for a two game series against the Twin City Steel.

The Bulls started out on Friday night with a strong performance. Patrick Sivets put the Bulls on the board in the first period starting the score off at 1-0. Coming into the second period with a lead North Iowa was able to push the score to 2-0 on a score by forward Justin Gregory. The game quickly became competitive when the Twin City Steel battled back and were finally able to get on the scoreboard in the second period sealing the score at 2-1 at the end of two. The Bulls were able to extend the lead up to 3-1 on a score from Jared Ramstead. The effort put forth by both teams was highly recognizable.

North Iowa’s Jared Ramstead started right where he left off on Saturday night. Jared got a quick goal which put the Bulls in a 1-0 lead early in the first period. The Steel were able to bounce back off the quick score, and put in two straight goals fastening the score 2-1 at the end of one. The Bulls rallied back as goals from Matt Kroska and Sergey Barkin pushed the lead 3-2 in the second period. Following the goals that pushed the Bulls into the lead a goal by Twin City was able to knot things up 3-3 after two periods. Jared Ramstead, again, pushed the Bulls out to a quick 4-3 lead early in the third period and the Bulls never looked back.  With strong play by the Bulls defense in the third, the Bulls forward Eric Behrend pushed the Bulls out to a 5-3. A late goal would pull the Steel close, but North Iowa came out victorious at 5-4.

“This weekend was a solid showing for the Bulls. As our season is progressing we are finding a good consistency with our play. We did a great job this weekend being able to score and play the defense needed to stay ahead Twin City.” said Bulls head coach Todd Sanden.
