Jan 24, 2012

The North Iowa Bulls were on the road last Friday night to put their five game winning streak up against the Minnesota Flying Aces.

North Iowa and Minnesota found themselves in a defensive battle right from the drop of the puck.  The first quarter only saw one goal from the Flying Aces leaving the score 1-0 at the end of the first period.

Going into the second period trailing 1-0 the North Iowa Bulls looked to get on the scoreboard, but their attempts were unsuccessful as neither team was able to score.

However, the North Iowa Bulls would not be silenced in the third period. North Iowa was able to score three straight goals against the Flying Aces. The first point of the night for the Bulls came from forward Bobby Chapman as he was assisted by Carson Gray. With the score tied 1-1 the Bulls looked to keep this third period momentum going. Bulls forward Steve Heller pushed the Bulls to a 2-1 lead as he found the back of the goal as Nick Marsh and Eric Behrend were there for the assist.

The Bulls were not finished after taking the 2-1 lead. Bulls forward Alex Carey extended the lead 3-1 as he scored on a penalty shot. Minnesota would be able to put one more goal of their own on the board, but it was all North Iowa Bulls as Steve Heller scored his second goal of the game making the score 4-2 as Nick Marsh and Eric Behrend were there for the assist.
