Bulls Claim Game 2!

Mar 15, 2013

The North Iowa Bulls got off to a bit of a shaky start in Game 2, but were able to bounce back quickly, control play, and skate away with a 6-2 victory and 2-0 series lead following Game 2.
It did not start well for the Bulls as the Minnesota Flying Aces came out strong and potted the game's first marker just 1:18 into play. The rowdy crowd of 1,171 were not pleased, but they stayed behind their Bulls the entire period, and the Bulls responded by carrying the play, evident by a 14-3 shot advantage for North Iowa. Nevertheless, they headed to the dressing room down 1-0.
North Iowa continued to carry the play in the second period, holding a 17-4 shots advantage, and unlike the first period, they were rewarded for peppering the Aces' tender. Fosdick, Santopoalo, and Johnson all netted goals in the middle frame, and even though the Aces were able to scrounge a goal to keep the game at 3-2 heading to the third, you could sense the Bulls were just waiting to explode offensively.
That happened in the final frame, as the Bulls tallied three more markers, one from Brown and two from Richie Marenis, the game's #1 star. North Iowa would close out the period with 17-8 shots advantage, which brought the game shot totals to 48-15 in favor of the Bulls. A 6-2 final from the barn gives the Bulls a commanding 2-0 series lead in the best-of-5 West Division Playoffs.
The series will now shift to Little Falls, MN for Game 3 and, if necessary, Game 4 as well. Game 3 is slated for Thursday, March 21st with a 7:05 puck drop. You can catch the game live on FastHockey, or follow along via FaceBook and Twitter for constant updates. If the series requires a 5th and deciding game, it will be back in Mason City, next Saturday, March 23rd, with a 7:30PM puck drop.
    Go Bulls!
