Barnes leads North Iowa over Breezy Point, 6-2

Marshall Barnes was all over the ice for North Iowa, as he tallied one goal and three assists in North Iowa\’s 6-2 win over Breezy Point.

Barnes beat Christian Sanzottera with a shot 10:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 North Iowa. Eric Piatt picked up the assist. Barnes dished an assist on Sean Mallonee\’s goal that made the score 1-1 at 3:44 into the second period. He then added assists on Brett Gravelle\’s goal at 16:32 into the second and on Joe Burgmeier\’s goal at 17:29 into the second.

North Iowa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 38 penalty minutes.

North Iowa forced Breezy Point\’s netminders to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots and forcing 25 saves. Sanzottera made 20 stops and Wes Paupore made five.

North Iowa additionally got points from Adam Orn, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Burgmeier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Mallonee, who also had one goal and two assists, and Gravelle, who also registered one goal and two assists. Jack Stang also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Jeff Solow and David Johnson, who each chipped in one.

Breezy Point forced North Iowa goalie Johnson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Breezy Point could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.
