Alexandria holds on for 3-2 win against North Iowa

The Alexandria Blizzard survived a determined comeback attempt by the North Iowa Bulls on the way to a 3-2 win.

Alexandria took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have North Iowa storm back on a Joe Burgmeier goal 18:31 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Blizzard were sparked by Eric Hewitt, who registered one goal. Hewitt scored on the power play 17:57 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Alexandria. Alexandria had taken the advantage when the Bulls\’ Adam Orn got sent off for high sticking. Kyle Jones assisted on the tally.

North Iowa was unable to stop the Blizzard from sending pucks towards the net, and Alexandria eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Alexandria also got points from Tony Arias, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Nate Mettenburg, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Alexandria were Bo Gronseth, who had one and Tom Monteiro, who had two.

The Bulls forced the Blizzard goalie Evan Bisek to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

North Iowa also got a goal from Johnny Panvica as well. More assists for North Iowa came via John Chorzempa, Joe Kleven, and Brett Gravelle, who contributed one each.

Evan Bisek made 30 saves for Alexandria on 32 shots. The Blizzard incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. North Iowa\’s Jordan Moran stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Bulls incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
