Ahlgren stymies Alexandria, North Iowa wins 4-1

Tommi Ahlgren had a standout game with 26 saves, and the North Iowa Bulls beat the Alexandria Blizzard 4-1.

North Iowa was sparked by Carmen Dalesandro, who tallied one goal. Dalesandro scored 9:45 into the third period to make the score 2-1 North Iowa. Ryan Durant picked up the assist.

The Bulls kept Alexandria\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Tanner Elmore made 45 saves on 49 shots.

North Iowa also got points from Jake Mullendore, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jon Severson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Evan Mills also scored for North Iowa. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were Kurt Halbach, Joe Burgmeier, and Jack Stang, who each chipped in one.

The Blizzard stifled North Iowa\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Alexandria was held below its usual level of production. The Blizzard average 3.7 goals per game.

Alexandria was led by Bo Gronseth, who scored the team\’s only goal. Gronseth scored on the power play 29 seconds into the third period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Jones provided the assist.

The Bulls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Blizzard incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
